He is listed as having been a Commander of the E.H. Cavalry Co. of Militia before the war.
In the town of E.H. he served on (1) the committee to examine all merchants suspected of not living up to the non-importation agreement, (2) the committee of correspondence, and (3) the committee of inspection to hear all complaints against persons charged with being "inimical" to the liberties of the colonies.
