According to page 66 of the diary of Lieut. Jabez Fitch of NY, Duren Whittlesby died in the hospital on the night of Nov 6, 1776. He had been taken prisoner at the Battle of Long Island. The exact location of the hospital is unknown, but it was in New York City, or perhaps near it on Long Island.
