Born in Litchfield, CT. Fought with East Haddam men at the Siege of Boston. Taken prisoner at Fort Washington in Nov 1776; released in 1777. Second service at Fort Trumbull, New London. Promoted to full Colonel in 1781 in command of all CT troops in defence of the coast.
