Captain of 8th Co. of the 12th Reg. 1769/05. Colonel in 25th Reg. from 1777/05 to 1780 when he retired, taking over from Col. Henry Champion. He was appointed Brig. Gen. of the 3rd Brigade. He is listed as being in service in New York 1784/06/02. He held the position of Brig. Gen. until his death in 1789. He is also listed as an early commander of the East Haddam North Militia. He graduated from Yale in 1759 and was the first professional lawyer in East Haddam in 1762. He was Justice of the Peace from 1774 to 1789. He served 11 sessions of the General Assembly of CT. He was a 1788 delegate to the convention to ratify the Constitution. He was the first Chief Justice of the Middlesex County Court from 1785 to 1789.
