From Dr. Stofko: Israel Spencer served in Col. Charles Burrell's Regiment in 1776. He then served in the northern department under General Schuyler for the year 1776, term expired on January 19, 1777. He reinforced troops sieging Quebec under Arnold and Wooster. After retreat in April of 1776, he was stationed at Ticonderoga and vicinity where many men suffered severely from small pox.
