Booge
John Booge was a native of Scotland; born and raised in Glasgow, a tobacconist by trade. He came to this country about the year 1681. His final place of settlement was East Haddam. He was the fifth man to settle in the town; the first to own a team of oxen.
The spelling of the name in Scotland was Booge. Later, about 1825, the descendants in Connecticut changed the spelling back to Bogue, the original French spelling.
